As Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to redefine modern warfare and national security, the workshop aimed to equip CRPF officers with a solid understanding of AI technologies and their practical applications in the defence sector. The session served as a bridge between cutting-edge innovation and ground-level security needs.

Focus of the Workshop

The workshop covered a wide range of AI use cases tailored for defence operations, including:

  • Surveillance and Reconnaissance: Use of AI in drones, satellite imagery analysis, and border monitoring.

  • Predictive Policing and Threat Detection: How machine learning can anticipate risk patterns and improve intelligence-led operations.

  • Cybersecurity and Information Warfare: Tools for detecting misinformation, deepfakes, and cyber threats that can compromise national security.

  • Automated Decision Support Systems: AI-driven tools for strategic planning, mission simulations, and resource deployment.

Tools and Demonstrations

The organizers introduced participants to a curated set of AI tools and platforms currently used or tested in global defence applications. These included:

  • Image and video analysis tools for real-time surveillance

  • Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools for deciphering intercepted communications

  • Simulation platforms for training and combat readiness

  • AI-assisted forensic and data analytics systems for investigations

Live demonstrations and interactive discussions ensured that officers could connect these technologies with their day-to-day responsibilities, especially in counterinsurgency, internal security, and disaster response roles.

Why This Matters

Defence personnel today need both combat skills and digital expertise,” said Shakoor Rather, CEO of Science Matters. AI literacy is no longer optional; it’s mission-critical.”

The workshop emphasised operational relevance, ethical considerations, and policy frameworks surrounding the use of AI in defence. Officers appreciated the session for its clarity, hands-on examples, and strategic relevance.
